The challenge
A family-owned company dedicated to providing high-quality research tools planned to create a new Antibody Engineering Division focused on engineering multi-specific antibodies. As a result the company needed to recruit a Senior Scientist – Antibody Engineering as the division’s first hire in the US.
The company had struggled to recruit for the role both directly and through working with other recruitment partners because finding someone with experience in Fc engineering, multi-specific antibodies, fusion proteins, and optimization of antibody-based scaffolds is challenging. As a result, the role had been open for 12 months. After previously partnering with Invenia Group to find a Single Cell Research Scientist in the US, the company turned to us for support with this role.
Our solution
Due to the lack of individuals with the necessary experience, it was crucial that we worked to identify all potential candidates by extensively mapping the US market. The key for this assignment was to utilize our existing network and referrals to identify individuals with the necessary qualifications and experience. The next step was to headhunt and engage with the identified candidates and attract them to the opportunity. After we submitted a highly qualified shortlist, five candidates were put through to the first stage interview, with three making it to the second stage before the successful candidate was hired after a final stage.
Results
The Senior Scientist – Antibody Engineering role is strategically important for the business and its future growth plans.
