Acquisitions, spin-outs and expansions

NeoGenomics Laboratories has acquired Pathline, a certified lab in New Jersey, to expand its footprint in the Northeast. The move strengthens its capabilities in molecular and hematology-oncology testing and supports growth in a key, fast-growing region.

Repligen Corporation, a life sciences company focused on bioprocessing technology, has purchased 908 Devices’ desktop portfolio of four devices for bioprocessing process analytical technology applications. 908 Devices remains focused on the growth of its newly expanded handheld device portfolio for vital health and safety applications.

InformedDNA has acquired Coriell Life Sciences to expand its precision health offerings. This move combines pharmacogenomic services with InformedDNA’s genetic test interpretation and counseling, enhancing access to personalized, data-driven care for patients, providers, and payors.

Advanced Instruments, LLC, a Patricia Industries subsidiary, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Nova Biomedical. The acquisition brings together two leading manufacturers of analytical instruments, enhancing capabilities in both biopharmaceutical development and clinical diagnostics.

Momentum Biotechnologies, a CRO specializing in mass spectrometry-based drug discovery, announced that it has successfully completed the acquisition of OmicScouts, a Munich-based CRO and established leader in the field of mass spectrometry-based proteomics, operating hereafter as OmicScouts , a Momentum Biotechnologies Company.

AccuStem announced that it has acquired the license for the proprietary MicroRNA Signature Classifier (MSC) test for lung cancer screening from three Italian researchers at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori di Milano

PerkinElmer has acquired Project Farma (PF), a subsidiary of Precision for Medicine, to expand its capabilities in life sciences consulting. KAMADA announces expansion of plasma collection operations with the opening of new site in San Antonio, Texas

SHIMADZU CORPORATION and DxD Hub – Diagnostics Development Hub are collaborating to establish the Shimadzu-DxD Hub Diagnomics Centre (SDDC). The center, based at Singapore’s Biopolis, aims to accelerate the development of high-quality, cost-effective diagnostic products by integrating expertise from Shimadzu with product development platforms from DxD Hub. It will focus on infectious diseases, cancer, and metabolic disorders.

 

Legal updates

Parse Biosciences has agreed to a worldwide permanent injunction, admitting infringement of 10x Genomics’ ATAC-seq patents and halting the sale of its planned ATAC and ATAC-Multiome Single Cell products.

The US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas ruled to vacate the US FDA’s final rule on laboratory-developed tests (LDTs). The ruling prevents the FDA rule on LDTs, which is opposed by much of the clinical laboratory industry and many segments of the broader healthcare industry, from going into effect.

Judge denies QIAGEN ‘s motion to dismiss an antitrust lawsuit filed by Zymo Research Corp.

Promega Corporation this week filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Aobious Inc in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. The suit concerns IP rights around the enzyme furimazine and its associated variants, which the company uses in its NanoLuc luciferase technology.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce banned Illumina from importing its next-generation sequencers into China, effective immediately.

 

Collaborations and partnerships

BioTuring has announced 2 partnerships:

  1. With Complete Genomics to streamline spatial data analysis! This collaboration integrates BioTuring’s SpatialX platform, compatible with STOmics spatial transcriptomics, to simplify complex data analysis and empower researchers to uncover vital biological insights.
  2. With Vizgen, by integrating Vizgen’s MERSCOPE Ultra™ platform with BioTuring’s SpatialX deep learning platform for analyzing data, researchers gain streamlined access to deeper insights into cellular interactions and complex tissue architecture.

STOmics announced Cancer Discovery Hub as a new Certified Service Provider (CSP). This partnership promises to bring state-of-the-art spatial transcriptomics technology, Stereo-seq, to a broader range of research communities.

Thermo Fisher Scientific announced a Technology Alliance Agreement with the Chan Zuckerberg Institute for Advanced Biological Imaging (CZ Imaging Institute). This agreement aims to develop new technologies to enable researchers to better visualize human cells, significantly advancing scientific research and discovery.

Genome Canada has launched the Canadian Precision Health Initiative (CPHI) which aims to collect and analyze 100,000 genomes from Canada’s diverse population. With a total expected investment of C$200 million, the initiative involves partners across industry, academia, and government. Regional genome centers and sequencing facilities will lead efforts, with sequencing support from Illumina, Oxford Nanopore Technologies and PacBio. CPHI aims to advance precision health, support cancer research, and ensure ethical genomic data use.

Lumea , AIRA Matrix Private Limited, and Acupath Laboratories Inc. have partnered to deliver an AI-based solution to assist in the diagnosis of urinary bladder cancers through cytopathological examination.
